ӰPro Foundation hosted its Annual ӰPro Foundation Scholarship and Alumni Reception Nov. 7, at the Lea County Event Center. Tuesday night’s event drew one of the largest crowds the event has seen with nearly 300 people in attendance.
“We are pleased with the turnout and hope to grow the momentum of this event in upcoming years,” said ӰPro Vice President for Advancement Rachel Gallagher, Ph.D. Additionally, we were honored to have so many donors and community members in attendance, which helped to truly make this event successful. It’s important to maintain these connections throughout the community.”
The event recognized scholarship recipients, while also honoring donors and community partners. A special awards ceremony paid homage to one outstanding ӰPro alum, and three donors. Monica Cervantes, ӰPro adjunct instructor and business owner, received the Legacy Award, honoring alumni who exemplify the best of ӰPro. Brenda “Bonnie” Moran received the Foundation Builders Award. This award honors and recognizes individuals, families, or friends who have made a positive impact on ӰPro through their financial support. Chevron, received the President’s Circle Award, honoring a group of donors from the business community who have made significant contributions to ӰPro. Julee Smith, received the 1965 Circle of Excellence Award. This award recognizes loyal alumni, parents, and friends who have supported ӰPro consistently over time.
During the awards presentation, Chevron Community Affairs Representative Beverly Allen gifted ӰPro Foundation members with a $30,000 donation. “We are beyond grateful to the generosity of all our donors over the years, and so pleased with the continued partnership we have with Chevron,” said Gallagher. “Chevron representatives have not only contributed financially to the ӰPro Foundation, but have also spent a lot of time as industry partners in many of our workforce development and K-12 STEAM education programs. We are proud to work with them and honored by their continued support.”
In addition to the awards presentation, the ӰPro Entertainment and Music Technology Program’s Fearless Touring Ensemble group performed at the event and helped with lighting, audio and visual components. “It was amazing to showcase members of the Entertainment and Music Tech program and partner with such skilled students and staff members. Their expertise and talent definitely added to the amazing atmosphere of the night,” said Gallagher.
